The overtly talented team of Carsey Werner has brought far too many memorable characters into our homes over the years but none as diverse as the series 3RD Rock From The Sun. The series about human existence as seen through the eyes of four aliens visiting Earth, whose mission is to sample life on our planet. Described by it's creators as "Carl Sagan meets the Marx Brothers." Additional credit to the creators for heading the cast with such comedic genus as John Lithgow and Jane Curtin...

John Lithgow plays Dick Solomon the High Commander of an otherworldly expedition: Born into a theatrical family in Rochester, New York, Lithgow made his stage debut at the age of six in "Henry VI, Part 3." A Harvard graduate, he won a Fulbright Scholarship and attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. While in England, he studied with both the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Court Theatre before settling in New York to pursue a stage career. Winning both the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for his Broadway debut in "The Changing Room," he went on to star in "My Fat Friend," Comedians," A Memory of Two Mondays," "Secret Service," "Anna Christie," "Once In A Lifetime," "Spokesong," "Division Street," "Beyond Therapy" and his one-man-show "Kaufman at Large." Unable to stay away from live theatre Lithgow was nominated for both Tony and Drama Desk Awards for his performance in "Requiem for a Heavyweight" and his third ! Tony Award nomination for "M.Butterfly" in 1988.

In 1982 his Academy Award-nominated portrayal in "The World According to Garp" brought him national attention. His role as Debra Winger's lover in "Terms of Endearment" earned him his second Academy Award nomination. His list of memorable characters go on to roles in such acclaimed films as "Twilight Zone: The Movie," Memphis Belle," " Footloose," "Buckaroo Bonzai," "All That Jazz," "Blow Out," "Raising Cain" and "Harry and the Hendersons." Most recently his film projects have included "Cliffhanger" and The Pelican Brief."

Over the years he has earned an Emmy Award nominations for his performance in "The Day After" and "The Resting Place." In 1987 he brought home the Emmy for his portrayal in a episode of Steven Spielberg's "Amazing Stories." In 1997, John won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for Playing "Dick" on 3RD Rock, the role also brought him a 1997 Emmy Award nomination.

John lives in Los Angeles with his wife Mary, a history professor at UCLA, and their daughter Phoebe and son Nathan. He also has a son, Ian, from a previous marriage who can been seen periodically appearing with his Dad in a recurring role on 3RD Rock.

Jane Curtin who portrays Dr. Mary Albright who as the series unveils starts sharing more than her cramped office with Dick Solomon: Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she studied Drama at Northeastern University. A member of the improvisational theatre group "The Proposition" for four years before going on a national tour with a number of plays including the comedy "Last of the Red Hot Lovers."

Gaining national attention when she made her television debut in 1975 as one if the original Not-Ready-For-Prime-Time Players on "Saturday Night Live." During her five-year run, she received two Emmy Award nominations for the creation of an assortment of memorable characters, including the anchor on "Weekend Update" and the mother of the "Conehead" family.

The 1980's brought her the role of single mother Allie Lowell starring opposite Susan St. James in the popular series "Kate and Allie," earning her two Emmy Awards. Some of her television roles created big screen credits which include The Coneheads," "Mr. Mike's Mondo Video," "How to Beat the High Cost of Living" and "Suspicion." On Broadway, she has appeared in George Bernard Shaw's "Candida" with Joanne Woodward, a role which she also reprised for television. Her other stage credits include the Off-Broadway musical revue "Pretzels," which she co-authored, and several appearances in A.R. Gurney's "Love Letters."

Jane lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their daughter.

French Stewart who portrays Harry Solomon was chosen to be the funny-looking human in the group, the most susceptible to our vices and obsesses on television to learn the real truths about life on Earth: Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a graduate from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. While touring extensively performing the classics, he received critical acclaim in The Grove Shakespeare Festival's landmark production of "A Comedy of Errors." In 1988, he became a member of the Cast Theater where he performed for five years in the Los Angeles cult hit "Zombie Attack!" and other stage production. Receiving two L.A. Weekly awards for his performances in Justin Tanner's "Party Mix" and "Happy Time Xmas."

Making his television debut as the outrageous disc jockey on "The New WKRP in Cincinnati." Most recently, he has appeared on "Seinfeld," "The Larry Sanders Show" along with his recurring role on "The Boys are Back". His film credits include "Leaving Las Vegas" with Nicholas Cage, the hit scifi epic "Stargate," "Glory Daze" and "McHale's Navy" with Tom Arnold.

Recently, he has worked on the animated pilot for Nickelodeon entitled "Kiwi and Elmo." He is also heard as the voice of "Ikarus" in the animated television series "Hercules" and is the national spokes person for Clamato juice.

French has won praise as an activist in AIDS education, he has toured with the Secrets program which performs for and counsels young people about the realities of HIV. French is single and currently resides in Los Angeles.

Kristen Johnston plays Sally Solomon the second in command frustratingly reduced to an inferior role as a woman in today's society, Sally's charge is to learn about women on Earth: Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Milwaukee, Johnston always wanted to become an actress and spent much of her childhood involved in school and community theater. Making her professional stage debut with the Atlantic Theater Company, founded by David Mamet she appeared in many productions which included "Overruled," "As You Like It," and "Stage Door" to name a few. While performing with the Naked Angels Theater Company she appeared in "Hot Keys" and "The Stand In." She received a nomination for a Drama Desk Award for her performance in "The Lights" at Lincoln Center Theater.

In 1993, she made her feature film debut in "The Debt" which won Best Short at the Cannes Film Festival. Kristen's television credits include guest appearances on "Chicago Hope," "Heart's Afire," "The Five Mrs. Buchanans" and the NBC made-for-television movie "London Suite" with Kelsey Grammer.

1997 brought her a nomination by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a television series.

Although Kristen resides in Los Angeles she still considers herself a "New Yorker."
