The latest and 5th
James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, was born in Navan,
County Meath, Ireland on 5/16/52. His family moved
to London when he was 11 and on the very day of Ian
Flemming's death. He ran away with the circus to
become a fire eater in his teens. His first real
job was as a commercial artist but was introduced
to acting when he became part of a theatre group.
He became a student at the Drama Centre in London
and studied classical drama and character comedy
acting for three years.
He became an acting assistant stage manager and was
chosen by Tennessee Williams to play a role in one
of his theatre productions. Pierce starred in
numerous other stage shows. He later earned a
Golden Globe nomination for his role in "Nancy
Astor", a BBC TV Series.
His first American mini-series was The
Manions Of America, that brought him to the
attention of the American public. This led to his
starring TV role as "Remington Steele" and his
permanent move to Los Angeles. "Remington Steele"
was one of the most widely viewed syndicated series
Internationally.

Known the world
over for his formidable good looks and talent,
Pierce has graced the covers of hundreds of top
magazines and publications throughout the world and
appeared in several TV commercials. All of this
occurred after landing the part of Remington
Steele. He was chosen to become Roger Moore's
successor as James Bond during his stint as Steele
but those efforts were thwarted by his contractual
obligations to his TV bosses.
His companion is Keely Shaye-Smith, a
journalist, who is the mother of his almost one
year old son Dylan Brosnan .

His late wife
actress Cassandra Harris had starred in an earlier
James Bond movie, "For Your Eyes Only". She passed
away in 1991 as a result of ovarian cancer. Pierce
has raised their children, Christopher, Charlotte
and Sean William while becoming an ardent supporter
of research into women's cancer raising over
$6,000,000 to combat ovarian and breast cancer. He
serves as Ambassador for Women's Health Issues for
Permanent Charities of the Entertainment Industry.
He has also embraced environmental issues including
dolphin protection, and has participated in other

Based on his
original interest in commercial art, he has pursued
his aptitude and become an accomplished
painter.
He recently starred in the thriller Dante's
Peak, and The Mirror Has Two Faces, and proved his
comic flair in Mrs. Doubtfire. Pierce also earned
acclaim with his work in such mini-series as
"Around The World In 80 Days," and "Noble
House".
Brosnan has launched his own production company
with an intimate and moving Irish Independent film,
"The Nephew," a modestly budgeted production in
Ireland with Pierce assuming a supporting role.

Pierce made his
debut as 007 in "GoldenEye" which was the most
successful Bond film in history earning an
incredible 350 million dollars. His second Bond
film is United Artist's "TOMORROW NEVER DIES"
opening this month. His comic flair, good looks and
energy-charged approach to screen action, and own
brand of romantic appeal have helped him establish
his personalized version of James Bond. His acting
also reflects his athletic talent honed when he was
a member of a British improvisational theatre
troupe noted for its acrobatic demands on its
actors. He frequently handles his own stunt work in
films, endowing it with his light comedic
touch.
"TOMORROW NEVER DIES" will be reeling in fans to
theatres. It has been the public's fervent wish for
many years that Brosnan become Bond and that
synthesis has finally been achieved.
